I was born on May 30, 1981 in Fairfax, VA to two of the most
important people in my life, my parents. Shortly after my birth, my family and
I moved to Mechanicsburg, PA, where we still reside today. In addition to my
mother and father, my family consists of my older sister, Lisa, and my younger
brother, Brian, both of whom made my childhood extra special.
I attended parochial elementary and high school and went on to
attend a Catholic college. Both at Trinity High School and College Misericordia,
I was one to become involved in student life and hold leadership positions. In
both high school and college, I participated in student government, cross country
and track and field. In college, I also served as a resident assistant and eucharistic
minister.
My orientation to service for the community and church began
as a freshman in high school, where it was required throughout my four years.
But my volunteer work with Habitat for Humanity through campus ministry at college
was not forced upon me, I chose it freely. It was the multiple trips down South
over my spring breaks that sparked my interest in volunteering for a year of
service after graduation.
In May 2004, I graduated with honors from College Misericordia,
with an MS in physical therapy and a BS in health science. It was one of those
moments instilled in my memory in the finest detail. Not only was it a day of
accomplishment, but a day of closing one door and opening another to a new and
exciting path. I am ready to begin my career as a physical therapist and feel
fortunate to be able to utilize my skills and knowledge at Cabrini Medical Center
in New York City.
