On the original site chosen by Mother Cabrini, Mother Cabrini High School celebrated its 100th anniversary
this year of 1998. The school is administered by the Missionary Sisters of the Sacred Heart of Jesus.
For over 101 years, Mother Cabrini High School has dedicated itself to the educational, personal, and
spiritual development of young women.
The school continues the mission of St. Cabrini by serving the immigrant population of Washington Heights.
Approximately 400 girls, mostly Dominican, grades 9 through 12 are offered an education in a spiritual
atmosphere designed to foster a love of learning and a recognition of the dignity of each individual.
Over 7,500 young women have graduated from Mother Cabrini High School.
Mindful of prevalent injustices, the school promotes the dignity of women and efforts directed toward
social justice.
To accomplish these goals, the school offers an ESL (English as a Second Language)
program, tutoring and Peer Counseling programs and the assistance of the Campus
Minister. College preparation is a major thrust enhanced by a new Computer Lab
for use in computer assisted instruction.
