Cabrini Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation (CCNR) is a 240 - bed skilled nursing facility located
in the East Village area of lower Manhattan. Established in 1992 at the site of what was formerly a proprietary
nursing home, it serves a multi-cultural and immigrant geriatric population which is highly dependent
upon public funds. As an affiliate of Cabrini Medical Center, the center has more recently developed services
to meet the needs of patients who require short-term nursing and rehabilitative services after an acute
hospitalization and before returning home. Presently, ten beds are designated for the short-term program
which is located adjacent to the Rehabilitation Department. Due to these recent developments in services,
Cabrini Nursing Home is now officially known as Cabrini Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation (CCNR).
Cabrini Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation is expanding its services to the residential home setting
through the establishment of a Long Term Home Health Care Program, also known as the "Nursing Home Without
Walls", which will serve a population similar to that of the nursing home. This program is licensed to
serve 100 clients in Manhattan, Brooklyn and Queens, although it is anticipated that most will live in
the local community.
As a Cabrinian institution we are mindful of our mission to this marginalized
and dependent population and we are proud of our special call to serve new and
established immigrants as Mother Cabrini herself did in this very area. Sharing
this special mission with staff and volunteers as well as residents, patients
and their families is the objective of our efforts so that we may together deliver
excellent, compassionate service, recognizing the dignity of those who provide
care as well as those to whom we deliver care.
